If your'e a student and you haven't used Microsoft Word then I don't know what you've been doing for the past couple of years but it hasn't been doing essays. I have been using Microsoft Word for many years... in fact, the first time I used the software was to learn the different things that it could do. My teacher used Word in order to teach us how to write papers online so that we could keep all our work in one place instead of having loose leaf paper everywhere, we could be more organized. Instead of sticking to paper and pen, my teacher decided it was time for a change in her classroom so she decided that we would write a couple sentences on Microsoft Word and learn about the different things we could do using this software. From that point on, I've tried to use this software to do any type of assignment that I had.

Copyright and fair use of material isn't stressed about when you are younger. On the other hand you have college, where everything you use from a source other than your brain then you must give credit where it is do. When you use words from another person then you have to properly cite your sources. This is something I have to go through at least 10 times every semester. As a teacher, I would try to encourage the students to put what they have read in their own words and summarize what they have read that they want to mention. I would also try not to give them a specific topic on what to write about but a theme so they can have more of a creative process.
I have used Twitter plenty of times in the past but I haven't really been on the site in months until I got an assignment for this class. I knew how to do almost everything on Twitter because once upon a time I was a twitter addict. I would "tweet" so much, that there would come a point where I would be blocked from being able to post anything which we called "Twitter Jail". I know that I could learn more about personal learning networks while in this class but I think with the amount of time I spend online then I will eventually know how to do a ton of things. Personal Learning Networks can be huge in the future simply because teachers can incorporate social media activities that students of this "tech generation" are obsessed and attached too. Incorporating things that students like into the learning style can create a great and positive vibe within the classroom.
